WHAT ARE SKIN PEELS? Skin peels are basically an accelerated form of exfoliation induced by the use of an AHA or a chemical product. These induce a faster sloughing of the cells in the stratum corneum which causes the epidermis to thicken. By doing this we can destroy damaged layers of skin replacing them with more "normalized" tissue, thus helping to remove pigmentation abnormalities and actinic keratoses. Last we can induce production of collagen and ground substances in the Dermis. The goal is to correct and create this formation of new tissue with as little peeling as possible. These peels have low risk but create cumulative benefits.
